As for the Fade It Beat Competition that took place this past weekend, overall the event was nice. We had a few technical difficulties which resulted in some issues, but that didnt ruin the fun. We would like to thank all those that showed up and supported us! We're planning on hosting another event most likely sometime in the summer and it will be ALOT better. So stay tuned for information on that. As for the winner of the comp, congrads to J Woodz. He did his thing.

With the new year approaching you can definitely expect new material from us. We have new material we're working on right now. Now that Feng Shui is complete we're back to the drawing broad. We'll definitely keep you updated and posted on the next project. Right now we don't want to give too much away. Just know that it'll definitely BUMP, especially if you're a fan of a special program.

Well that's all for now. Thank you for downloading Feng Shui we hope you enjoy it. Feel free to leave us ANY kind of feedback about it. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Continue to have a good holiday!

A Few Important Announcements

Alright folks, first and foremost we hope everyone had a nice Thanskgivings and had a good break. Hopefully you got to spend time with your family, friends, do some shopping, and just relax. If you didn't get to do any of those, well then that really sucks. Better luck Christmakwanzakah (Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Hanukkah for all you not so fast interpreters lol).

Anyways, we need to make a few announcements. As you all know yesterday was Monday. If you visited the blog yesterday you may have noticed that we didn't post a new song up for our series A Case of the Mondays. We apologize. We had some difficulties along with everyone taking time out to enjoy the break, so it just didn't happen. However, next Monday we should be back in full rotation. If not, we'll notify you beforehand.

Next, some of you may have visited Buddy's blog and may have noticed has recent post concerning his involvement with the group. In short, yes he has resigned from the group. However, his resignation doesn't completely affect our material. All the beats we plan to use on Feng Shui and the project that will follow that have already been submitted to us by Buddy. Thus, we'll still be using them (of course with his permission). The only difference is that he won't be rapping on anything in the follow up project whereas on Feng Shui he raps on a few of the songs.

We're not going to go into detail on why this happen, but it's important for you to know that this doesn't affect anything you hear from us or our future endeavors at the moment. We also ask that you continue to support Buddy on his blog as he is preparing to release his own solo project, which at the moment is still untitled.

Finally, remember to attend our Fade It Beat competition on December 19 at Bob's Classic Kicks. We'll be performing and physical copies of Feng Shui will be distributed. It's $5 for the guys and $3 for the ladies.

Well that's all for today. Be sure to check the blog to stay updated with the latest information concerning us. Thank you for your continued support and love. We appreciate it.

A Case Of The Mondays - Week 4

Another Monday so you know that means another song courtesy of us. This week's post comes from our main producer Buddy basically just freestyling. And yes this is an actual freestyle. Not a written freestyle that was remembered, recited, and called a freestyle. He chose a beat that wasn't his own, but as you'll hear it definitely fits his personality. It's some real laid back type of shit. Props to all the real hip hop fans who can recognize what group the instrumental came from. Enjoy!

It will be held at Bob's Classic Kicks which is in the downtown area of Detroit near Wayne State campus. Not quite sure what a beat competition is? We'll break it down.

A Case Of The Mondays - Week 3

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening. It's kind of a late post today but hopefully you made it through your daily Monday routine. This week's song is coming from Buddy and Merle Mcfly entitled Fleece Johnson. Yes, Fleece Johnson as in the booty warrior Fleece Johnson. Still unfamiliar with the reference? Watch this segment courtesy of YouTube and I'm sure you'll have a clear understanding on what exactly a booty warrior is.

Lmao...so yeah. Now that you've been enlightened about the great booty warrior Fleece Johnson, today's song compares Fleece Johnson to our videographer Mr. Djeno. Please note that this was a joke and made strictly for comedy purposes. Mr. Djeno is NOT gay (well at elast not openly lol).

A Case Of The Mondays - Week 2

Ahhh another Monday. And surprisingly, the weather in Michigan is nice despite being November. Regardless, it's still Monday. Which means classes, work, and probably a bunch of other business related shit that's not fun. But today picture yourself in a soul movie (i.e. Supafly, Dolemite, or even the new Black Dynamite, you should get the point). That's exactly how today's entry sounds. Not lyrically, but definitely production wise. Shit sounds like it could've been in one of those soundtracks during a high speed car chase. So what does Restricted aka Mr. Sinister decide to do with a sound? Fuck around and have fun. Those of you expecting the usual sinister lyrics they're actual very few this time. Or at least not as drastic as usual. But we'll let you be the judge.

Fort Hood and Orlando

As many of you may have heard by now, there were 2 incidents that took place over the past two days where many innocent lives were lost. In Fort Hood, Texas, Nidal M. Hasan opened fire after learning he would be deployed to either Iraq or Afghanistan. He was of Islamic faith and being shipped to fight in either of these wars was his worst nightmare. He was often the subject of ridiculed on base for his beliefs. On November 5th, 2009, he decided his best form of relief was to murder 13 people and wound 28 in one of the deadliest rampages the United States have seen since Virginia Tech. Hasan was shot while reloading his weapons, and remains in stable condition.

Today in Orlando, FL, Jason Rodriguez returned to an office where he was formerly employed, and shot 6 people, killing one of them. When asked why he committed this crime, he answered simply “They left me to rot”. He had no criminal record prior to this incident and is in police custody now.

Am I saying that either one of these “horrific outburst of violence” (as President Obama so elegantly puts it) justifiable in any way, shape, or form, absolutely not. Violence is never the answer in situations like this. But this should be a wake up call to all of us who are quick to ridicule someone based on something that person may hold dear to them. Lets not all jump to talking about how cowardly, vicious, sick or deranged these 2 men were, that’s part of the reason we have arrived to these unfortunate events. Times are rough all over the United States, and as we can clearly see, the road only gets rougher from here. We have to work together during these trying times and help one another out. Let us instead keep the victims in our thoughts and in our hearts.

Welcome to the first installment of A Case of the Mondays!!!

Monday has finally arrived folks. That's right it's your new favorite day of the week. Sure, some of you may have to go to work and deal with that shitty boss or those annoying coworkers. Finally, A Name!

So as you may or may not have noticed, we didn't really have an exact name for the mixtape. Well as we keep getting closer to its completion, we've finally came up with a name. FENG SHUI.

Surprising? Maybe. If you haven't notice this is the word that is usually at the end of every post. SO you may be wondering, what the fuck does it mean?! Well that is just something you'll have to look up and get an understanding of. Credit goes to Caesa, as he is the main one in the group that uses the word almost all the time (happy nigga? you're credited for the usage of the word).

As of now, we are scheduled to record some of material this weekend. In the mean time, be on the look out for exclusives on the blog that will ONLY be available here. Also, we are in the process of planning a special beat tournament which will be hosted by Buddy and Merle Mcfly and will be featuring a live performance from the group. More information about that will be revealed soon so be sure to look out for updates!

Hello, Greetings, Salutations...you get the point

First and foremost, welcome to the official Virtuosouls page. We finally got this sheeit, (yes, it's spelled sheeit instead of shit, get used to it lol), up and running. Real quick heres a little background on us and how we came about as a group.

We have 6 members of the group: Buddy (the main producer), Mailmaxx, Merle Mcfly, Restricted, Caesa, and Mr. Djeno (the main videographer/poet). All of us are from Michigan specifically in Detroit and Belleville. The formation of the group can be credited to Buddy for the idea.

Currently we are working on material for our mixtape and album so stay tuned for updates for release information and new songs (that means you should check us out on a regular basis). Also, don't forget to check out our Myspace page and the Youtube page as we already have material posted. If you haven't already been to those pages, I suggest you do so now.
